I always thought that once I retired I would learn to do stained glass. As I pursued a 2nd career in fine art, I began to realize how much I like the spontaneity of my art process while painting. The more ability I have to respond to the last mark or brush stroke the more I enjoy the process. From this experience I realized that stained glass was probably not going to provide that experience. When I learned about mosaics I found it provided the opportunity to be more spontaneous while working with glass. I often use glass but I also enjoy incorporating pottery, beads, stones and other things into my work. I enjoy the process of creating "yard art" mosaics but my favorite mosaic process is recreating a painting in glass. I have begun to recreate some of my favorite paintings with this new medium.
